Die, Helen, die

Ack, the second half of Helen of Troy sucked major ass. Almost nobody got killed in the right way at the right time or place. Man, how you gonna do Hector, Mighty Warrior of Troy like that? Oh the bright side, the Horse was pretty cool, and we all secretly know Achilles went ballistic 'cause Hector killed his boytoy. I'm channeling Trojan!slash right now, and its a bad, bad thing. I'm almost certain Homer would not approve.

Right, time to avoid my German homework. I must be very diligent in that regard. ;)

Glad to be expanding the horizons as it were. =) That wussy little "spear him against the post" move was terribly wrong though. There was no raging battle; pansy-boys Menelaus and Paris get a ten minute fight and a complete dialogue and neither of them probably knows a damn thing about "gripping their swords." (Hee, I feel like Piers Anthony tonight) Meanwhile Achilles and Hector, the mf bad-asses get NOTHING. Its a crime, I tell ya. ;)

Actually, given the mores of that period, Homer would probably just go, "Wa-hey!" and light up a smoke (if they'd had smokes at that time). So, channel away! *eg*

Well, then, I hadn't thought of it that way, but of course you're right. I can't wait 'til "Alexander" comes out (pardon the pun.) Some bigscreen boylovin' for our pleasure and enjoyment. Off to channel...Menelaus and Paris, mmm, we only THINK they're fighting over Helen. Stupid bint's just in the way of a lover's spat.

WOOHOO! Ancient slash, hear hear! *waves Sacred Theban Band Ken and... er, I dunno, Chuck - still haven't made 'em yet* And, mm, yes, Alexander. I, too, am looking forward to this one. Somehow, I suspect Stu's going to be slumping in his seat opening night, trying to ignore my idiot squeaks (I am *such* a military history slut).

All that metal and strategy and sweaty guyness is pretty nice; three cheers for Ancient Slash I say! Have you read Diana Williams's story incorporating pederasty into HP, "The Courtship of Harry Potter"? Its quite nice and well researched. You make chain mail, right? Always glad to meet a fellow history buff, especially an ancient history one. I've been trying to finish Mary Renault's Fire From Heaven all semester, and I suspect that's what "Alex" is based on. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but it should be interesting at the very least, with Baz Luhrmann leading the pack. =)
