OK, I had heard rumors off and on for a few years that The Last Unicorn was being made into a live-action movie, but I had no idea of the cast:

Christopher Lee- King Haggard(!)
Angela Lansbury- Mommy Fortuna(!!)
Mia Farrow- Molly Grue
Jon Rhys- Meyers- Schmendrick the Magician (!!!)
Renee Auberjonois- Captain Cully/The Skeleton(!.5) ;)

Sadly, the official site doesn't have listings up for Lady Amalthea/The Unicorn or Prince Lir yet, but still... *drools at utterly amazing cast list*

Does anyone else find the casting of Mia Farrow as Molly Grue this time around eerily similar to the story itself?

I'm actually listening to it via DLed tracks on my computer (it took dedicated effort), but I know the actual soundtrack is available as an German import from amazon.com.

Too pricey for me, but it's nice to know it exists.

That may be a snag in this new movie for me though; I just don't think TLU w/o the soundtrack is possible.

I don't know what the status of the rumour is anymore, but a while back on all my fantasy communities there was much discussion about whether or not the new TLU film was a hoax. Lots of people showed artwork that was supposedly plagerized for the website, and a few other ideas that they said proved the whole thing was a big lie.

I just hope JRM as my beloved Schmendrick is a lie. *sob*

Well, it seems pretty weel into production according to imdb, which is often wonky on casting but usually right on film particulars.

Dude, why the JRM hate from my FL? I think he'd make a fabulous Schmendrick. *grin*
