Ok, people, let's talk storage. My movie collection is overspilling its bounds, but I can't seem to find anything suitable that isn't ugly or ridiculously expensive. I have about 120 each of DVD and VHS (I'm a junkie, I'll admit it).
So: how do you store your media, where did you purchase said storage, and how much (if you're willing to spill) did it cost?
I really need another damn bookcase too, but I don't want to think about that right now. ;)
I want it to be Tuesday so that the new Flogging Molly cd will be out. They're going to have it on sale at Target, which gives me inner conflict. Half of my brain is saying "yay, they'll get more exposure and more people will know the coolness that is Flogging Molly." The other, less classy, side of my brain is singing there goes the neighborhood, here come the debutantes.
I like for people to know about bands I like, so that they will play many concerts and be able to pay their hotel bills. On the other hand, I hate it when ticket prices triple, you make the move from cozy venue to giant ampitheatre, and you start spending your concerts being given the stinkeye by teenies in terrycloth miniskirts with sweaty, pimply boyfriends. *sighs*

cds: I keep my cds on a shelf that fits about 550 cds, and I got it at media play i think for about $50. It's a pretty decent looking unit, wooden and everything. It's the kind of unit with adjustable shelves so it would fit vhs tapes or dvds.
videos: I keep my vhs tapes on my old cd shelf. It was about $35.
dvds: I store my dvds on an old metal bookshelf. It was free.
books: my bookcases were also free. Perhaps I am a bad person to ask about this.

I will never have enough book bookshelves. When I moved into this apartment, I had a bunch of books in storage, but I've been trading in the ones the I don't care about for books I really want, so they've kinda taken over the place.

i buy the 200 cd holders from walmart. they cost about 14- 16 bucks. have 2 full of my music, and have up to H on my dvd's in the third. as you know, it's an energy thing. *shrugs* i really like the room that has freed up, tho. make sure to make master sheets, tho.

when i spoke of simplifying my life, i must have been joking. hubby, 2 kids, grandpuppy, cat, turtle, gerbil...and the humans besides me seem to wait with baited breath for me to clear off spaces so they have new places to stack their junk. *sighs* i need a maid. and a huge mansion, so everyone could keep their stuff out of my living room and dining room.

I know that feeling. My family are all habitual packrats; we save everything. I've gotten much better about throwing away junk and not having so much stuff to start with, but it's hard.
